In the early 1970s, the legendary career educator, George Brokaw, retired from the education field and began a second career as a yacht broker. A lifelong sailor and waterman, George quickly established “Brokaw Yacht Sales” as a first-rate company serving San Diego’s yachting and boating community.

George found a great location at 2608 Shelter Island Drive, nestled in the heart of San Diego’s rich yachting history.
The company grew in reputation and success, and in 1978, George’s son, Bob, joined the family business, working and learning alongside his father.

Bob grew up with a main sheet in one hand and the tiller of his dad’s boat in the other. A lifelong sailor and avid waterman, Bob brought all of his own talents to the company. Together, the two men compiled a long list of hundreds of satisfied customers. They continued together through the 1980s, 1990s and into 2000, when George retired, leaving the company in Bob’s trusted hands.
Bob continued to grow the company, amassing upwards of 2400 career sales in 22 states and 10 countries. Today, Brokaw Yacht Sales continues its success with an eye to future growth, expanded services, and even higher levels of customer service.
